New Coatings Systems with Improved Mechanical Properties by Combining Polymer Derived Ceramic and Physical Vapor Deposition Coating Methods

Different application methods for coatings have their individual advantages and disadvantages. Physical vapor deposition (PVD) titanium nitride are hard but cannot be produced economically in high coating thicknesses, example. Polymer derived ceramic (PDC) coatings, on the other hand, good oxidation protection properties can easily with worse mechanical properties. Therefore, a combination of different leads to system providing advantageous both techniques. In this work, research combinability Durazane 2250 1800 based PDC PVD is reported focus combined system. It shown that after complete ceramization homogeneous well adherent achieved. The hardness (12.3 GPa) scratch resistance (more than 10 N load at failure) as reduction affected area cross-cut tape test 32% systems obtained. synergistic effect expected demonstrated.
